The Pioneers of Forgiveness are a network of San Francisco Bay Area citizens committed to the establishment of an official global holiday and other related projects for the nurture and celebration of the spirit of forgiveness.  International Forgiveness Day is to be observed annually on the first Sunday of August in all (approximately 300) of the world’s countries and territories by the year 2005.

The Pioneers of Forgiveness support the International Forgiveness Day  project in several ways:

·         Creating public awareness of and participation in Bay Area celebrations of International Forgiveness Day

·         Extending their network globally to millions of other pioneers

·         Funding the International Forgiveness Day project

To create your own participation as a Pioneer of Forgiveness,  you may after reading this brochure send in the pledge form on the back.  For further information, please write, call or e-mail us.

Forgiveness is the release of all hope for a better past.

-Alexa Young

Four decades ago humankind adopted its first global icon , the image of the Whole Earth, a symbol that transcends all religious, ethnic, political, social, economic and other structures and issues that divide us.  Thus far, the wholeness of our planet is the only representation of unity and oneness with which every human being can identify.

It is now the fullness of time to establish an annual holiday that likewise transcends all such divisions, exemplifying the same universality of spirit that is inherent in the Whole Earth image.  Our candidate for this holiday is International Forgiveness Day.

We feel quite certain that when hundreds of millions of individuals and groups worldwide are annually observing International Forgiveness Day, national and international leaders will be persuaded to make it the world’s first global holiday.

International Forgiveness Day is a holiday whose time has come, for it is increasingly probable that a critical mass of receptivity to forgiveness now exists in the collective consciousness of the human species. This receptivity is indicative of potential willingness to resolve the grievances that fragment humankind and the planet, a willingness that is now susceptible to mobilization on a global scale.

To the extent that leaders perceive themselves to be the political custodians of their constituency’s grievances, receptivity to forgiveness must become plainly evident as the direction in which our species is moving as a whole. Nothing less than a global parade of forgiveness is likely to inspire the world’s leadership to get in front of it.

How I know I have forgiven someone

is that he or she has harmless passage in my mind.

-Rev. Karyl Huntley

The Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance

The Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance is a non-profit, tax exempt educational foundation dedicated to globalizing the healing spirit of forgiveness.  Our mission is to do this by establishing the first global holiday, International Forgiveness Day.  Our other goals include:

·         employing the Internet and other media to promote universal awareness that practicing forgiveness contributes to

·         better health;

·         stronger, more lasting and more loving relationships;

·         greater abundance, prosperity and financial resourcefulness;

·         a more real and lasting sense of self worth and purpose;

·         a deeper sense of connection and security in the world;

·         enhanced freedom, joy and laughter on a daily basis.

·         supporting all peoples of the world to include the attitude, practice and healing process of forgiveness into every aspect daily life;

·         implementing specialized forgiveness trainings to assist those who are already in the work of healing, and training forgiveness counselors in processes of conflict resolution.

Sustaining the Project

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens

can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.

-Margaret Mead

The International Forgiveness Day initiative is sustained by the uncompensated work of a handful of volunteers, whose dedication to the project is conditioned by requirements of livelihood and other essentials of self-maintenance.  Accordingly, our progress is in proportion to the emergence of livelihood from the project itself.

The ultimate measure of the project’s relevance in the eyes of those it serves includes their willingness to fund its endeavor.  The modest donations of millions will demonstrate the synergetic power of the International Forgiveness Day initiative far more dramatically than can any other funding source.

Your tax-deductible donation, made payable to the “Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance” and mailed to the address on the next page will be greatly appreciated (i.e., increased in value) by the energies thus liberated.
