Many people from around the world have courageously and graciously forgiven others. They have found a place in their hearts to forgive. They have forgiven people in situations which most of us would consider unforgivable. They have forgiven the murderers of their own children and parents. They have forgiven a race of people or individuals that have oppressed them and abused them. They have forgiven fathers and mothers who have neglected and abandoned them. They have forgiven co-workers and friends who have betrayed them. They have forgiven spouses who were unfaithful to them. They have forgiven school bullies who tormented them. They have forgiven themselves for being the bullies. These people have come to terms with the past, and have given up the pretense that they can change the past.

These people are our heroes.  The have the strength, the courage, the generosity and the grace to forgive. And through their journey of forgiveness, they have transformed the home within their hearts, a home that is warm, secure, loving, gentle and peaceful.

The Pioneers of Forgiveness is a growing network of individuals dedicated to demonstrating the transformative, healing power of forgiveness in the lives of everyone, and to globalizing the healing spirit of forgiveness by establishing International Forgiveness Day as the world's first global holiday.  This holiday is to be officially celebrated on the first Sunday of every August in each of  the world's 300 countries and territories.

Heroism of forgiveness and witnessing to forgiveness in a non-forgiving world are primary objectives of our network, which supports the Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance, a non-profit, tax exempt educational foundation that sponsors the International Forgiveness Day project and other forgiveness-related programs. Both the Alliance and this network are further supported by the Choosing Forgiveness website, whose focus is on self-forgiveness.

As the Alliance's networking organization, we are committed to generating worldwide interest in and support for its various programs. Our core network is now taking form in the San Francisco area, in preparation for its expansion globally.

is that he or she has harmless passage in my mind.
