I am grateful for this example of what I call heroism of forgiveness. These folks definitely qualify for the Hero/Heroine of Peace, Reconciliation, and Forgiveness award that is granted by the Worldwide Forgiveness Alliance, of which I am Vice President for Global Outreach.
